The game of Poker is a card game in which players compete for the highest hand. Players place bets at intervals, and the first player is considered the active player. Each player in turn must place a number of chips into the pot equal to the total bets of players before him. This is called a “showdown.”
The dealer is the person dealing the cards. During casual play, this role rotates among players. The dealer button, also known as the buck, is a small, white plastic disk that identifies the nominal dealer and determines the betting order. The cards are dealt clockwise around the table. If one player reaches the button before another player, that player becomes the dealer.
Poker is played between two people, with five cards on the table. The highest hand wins the pot. In case of ties, the higher pair wins. The second pair is also a winning hand. However, if two people have the same pair, the highest hand wins. However, if both players have high hands of the same type, the high card will break the tie.
The game of Poker has many variations. Some games have fewer than five cards. Some variations include Three-Card Monte and Spit-in-the-Ocean. For more than ten players, two separate games can be organized.
