Poker is a card game that involves betting. The players ante (the amount varies from game to game), and then make their bets into the center of the pot. The hand with the highest value wins the pot. All poker hands are played with five cards, and there are five different suits. Some games have Wild Cards, or cards that can be any suit, and others do not.<\/p>\n
A player’s bet may be a small one, or it may be a big one. The player who raised can also refuse to bet. He is effectively out of the game at that point. Usually there are two betting intervals, and the final one ends in a “showdown,” when the player with the best poker hand wins the pot.<\/p>\n
The best hand in poker is the “nuts.” A “nut” hand is a pair with at least two cards of the same suit. It is also known as a trip sevens. An ace and seven on the flop is an example of a top pair. Generally speaking, any pair greater than a seven is an overpair.<\/p>\n
