Some forms of online gambling are legal while others are illegal. In some countries, such as Canada, Internet gambling is not legal. This is because some forms of online gambling are not subject to the same legal framework as traditional land-based gambling.<\/p>\n<p>There are many laws in the United States regulating Internet gambling. For example, the Wire Act was introduced in 1961 to prevent illegal wagering on sporting events. It was designed to work with state antiracketeering laws.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the Wire Act&#8217;s strict application, some states have decided to allow some forms of online gambling. These include sports betting and poker. Many states have also decided to decriminalize some forms of online gambling.<\/p>\n<p>The US government has taken action against several companies that are operating illegally. These companies have been charged with money laundering, violations of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), and bank fraud.<\/p>\n<p>Online Gambling has gained popularity in the United States since the 1990s. According to a Frost &#038; Sullivan report, online gambling revenues exceeded $830 million in 1998. Since then, the Department of Justice has allowed states to pass their own legislation on online gambling.<\/p>\n<p>Several bills have been proposed in the Senate and House. They have been debated on constitutional grounds, including the Commerce Clause and the First Amendment.
