Poker is a card game played between two or more players and based on the twin elements of chance and skill. While luck plays a large role in the outcome of any particular hand, over time the application of skill virtually eliminates variance. The basic rules of poker are straightforward. The game starts with two cards being dealt to each player. The player to the left of the dealer acts first in each betting interval.
